Mount Marty defeats Dordt 2-1

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mount Marty scored a run in the bottom the seventh inning and took a 2-1 GPAC win from Dordt on Friday night in Yankton.

The Lancers scored a run in the third inning but left the bases loaded when the inning ended. Mount Marty also had two runners on in the second inning but came up empty.

Dordt scored a run with a solo homer by Trent Roose in the top of the sixth to tie the game.

After a scoreless top of the seventh Mount Marty scored a run on two this in the home half of the seventh for the 2-1 win.

THE NUMBERS

Both teams had eight hits.

Taylor Neuroth, Chris O’Connor, Trent Roose and Josh Van Eps accounted for all of Dordt’s hits with two hits a piece.

O’Connor and Van Eps each had doubles and Roose’s homerun was Dordt’s other extra base hit.

Isaac Buteyn started the game and went six innings and allowed one run on six hits with four strikeouts and five bases on balls.

Karsten Marker took the loss and was charged with a run on two hits.
