The Dordt football program is looking for families to serve the incoming freshman class in their Host-A-Player program. Host families provide support to student-athletes through meals, church invitations, support at games, birthday well-wishes, care packages, or any other way they feel led to host.

“Our goal is to pair each player with a host family,” says Joel Penner, head football coach. “We believe this is a unique way to show our players how involved the Sioux Center community is in our football program.”

Families and student-athletes mutually benefit from the program.

“All incoming freshman feel homesick at some point, and we have found that providing host families has helped with that. In addition, the families are blessed by getting to know our outstanding players,” says Penner.
