Sioux Center, IA: On February 13, 2018, members of AgriVision Equipment Group met with representatives from Dordt College, at Dordt’s new Agriculture Stewardship Center (ASC).

For the second year in a row, AgriVision lent Dordt a tractor: this year, it is a 6110M John Deere front wheel assist tractor with a loader. They also loaned the college a John Deere Gator, which is used for hauling and helping with chores at the ASC.

“This is a huge blessing to our ag program and our ag students,” says Mike Schouten, Dordt’s ASC Steward. “All 157 of our ag students will have access to this tractor. We’re just really grateful to the AgriVision team, for this piece of equipment and for their support of our ag program.”

AgriVision is a John Deere dealer, with 16 locations in Iowa and one in Nebraska.

“We want to invest in the community and invest in the future,” says Tom Winter, AgriVision store manager. "What really excited us was the way that Dordt was diving into the Pro-Tech program, because this is a rural area and we have to support it.”

Representatives from the company handed the tractor keys to the two Dordt students present: Mitchel Van Regenmorter, a freshman studying animal science, and Ashley Armstrong, a freshman studying agriculture education.

Van Regenmorter expressed his excitement about the new tractor. “This way, when we get out in the real world, you know what you’re handling and running with.”

The new tractor will be used in agriculture courses, for projects, and crop and livestock production.

“It allows our students to gain experience on new, state-of-the-art equipment,” says Howard Wilson, Dordt vice president. “It’s equipped for precision agriculture. We appreciate their generosity.”
