(Thursday, January 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender women’s basketball team is no. 12 in the most recent NAIA Division II Coaches’ Poll released on Wednesday, January 9.
The Defenders moved up one spot in the poll and stood 15-4 when the poll was tabulated. Dordt lost Wednesday night to no. 1 Dakota Wesleyan 81-66.
Dordt totaled 202 points in the tabulation and trailed no. 11 Taylor (Indiana) with 214 points. The Defenders are 12 points clear of Eastern Oregon in no. 13.
There are six GPAC teams in the poll with Dakota Wesleyan holding no. 1; Concordia no. 2; Northwestern no. 3; Morningside no. 9 and Hastings at no. 21.
All five of Dordt’s losses are to teams in the poll this week. Dordt is scheduled to face Morningside on Saturday, January 12 before returning home to face Mount Marty and the College of Saint Mary next week.
The next poll will be released on January 23.
The bi-weekly poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
