(Wednesday, January 23; Sioux Center, Iowa) Lexi Long,  a senior at Lincoln Southeast High School (Nebraska), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the volleyball program.

Long is a 6-3 middle blocker who recorded a .367 kill efficiency and 2.2 digs per set. She had 20 ace serves against 15 errors this season and recorded a team-record nine solo blocks  in a match this season.  Long was a 2018 academic all-state selection and serves as a co-captain at Lincoln Southeast as a senior.  She was also selected in 2017 as an academic all-Heartland Athletic Conference honoree.

“Lexi is a great volleyball athlete who has a strong college volleyball future ahead of her.  We envision Lexi’s contribution as either a middle or right side hitter.  Her length along the net and ability to attack different routes will fit wonderfully into our system.  We are grateful for her high school coach Paige Hubl and club coach Maggie Griffin for their work in developing her volleyball skills.  Lexi has a heart to serve the Lord and others and she will be a wonderful addition to our campus community," said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Lincoln Southeast was a Class A District 5 runner-up and helped Lincoln Southeast to a state tournament in 2016 and 2017.

Lexi is the daughter of Ed and Kelly Long of Lincoln, Nebraska. She plans to study Exercise Science at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
