(Monday, January 28; Sioux Center, Iowa) Freddy Bullock, a senior at Sioux Center High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the golf and hockey programs.
Bullock had a 39.6 average during his junior season and placed fourth at the Siouxland Conference Championship and earned all-conference honors. He qualified for the Class 3A district meet after winning the sectional with a 72. He posted for top-five finishes in 2018 and was a medalist once and runner-up another time. In 2017 he posted two top-five finishes and had a runner-up finish as well. He was a second-team all-conference honoree after placing eighth at the Siouxland Conference Championship and was the sectional runner-up with a score of 77 and qualified for the district meet as the Warriors competed in Class 2A.
"Freddy comes to the Dordt program with a great deal of competitive experience from his high school and junior golf opportunities. He's been coached well by Todd Arends at Sioux Center High School and Freddy is the type of player who will make an immediate impact on our team, program and the GPAC. He is a gifted golfer who has great length off the tee, a strong iron game and a solid short game that helps him score well. Freddy will not only be an asset to the golf program but the Dordt community as a whole will benefit from Freddy's gifts. I am thrilled with the opportunity to coach Freddy and see him grow spiritually, academically and athletically while at Dordt," said Dordt golf coach Mark Christians.
Bullock also intends to join the Dordt Blades hockey program.
"We’re excited to add Freddy to the Blades program. Freddy has been a part of Sioux Center hockey, since he arrived in the area with his family. He is a hard worker, a natural athlete, and it has been fun watching him grow and develop. Freddy skates well, has a nice shot, and brings a capable offensive upside to our blue line. More than that, Freddy is a tremendous example of a kid who was positively impacted by former Blades players, and I have seen him take that mentoring role seriously already as a high school athlete with some of our local youth. Freddy understands the bigger picture, and exemplifies the kind of recruit we want: athletic, hardworking, and most importantly, committed to personal growth and kingdom impact," said Blades coach Nate van Niejenhuis.
Freddy is the son of Nate and Jenni Bullock of Sioux Center, Iowa. He plans to study Business at Dordt.
