(Wednesday, February 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) Trey Hinote, a senior at Greene County High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
Hinote averaged 21.7 points per game for Greene County and converted 86 three-point baskets this season while making 36 percent of his three-point shots. As a junior Hinote scored 16.9 points per game and he had a 15.2 points per game scoring average. Over the course of his career he converted 265 three-point baskets and scored 1,339 points. He earned first-team all-conference honors as a sophomore and junior and was an all-district pick in football in 2017 and 2018.
"We are excited to have Trey in our program. He is a guy that can really shoot the basketball, and loves to work on his game. He will fit into the fabric of Dordt College very well," said basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.
Trey is the son of Jeramie and Heather Hinote of Jefferson, Iowa. He plans to study Education.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
