de Jong To Join Defender Basketball

(Friday, February 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Corinna de Jong, a senior at Calvin Christian High School (California), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the track and field and basketball program.

De Jong averaged 12.7 points per game with 4.1 assists and 9.4 rebounds with 2.9 steals per game while blocking 1.7 shots per outing.  She has personal bests of 32-8 in the shot put and 89-3 in the discus.  She was voted first-team all-conference and is listed 5-9.

"We’re looking forward to Corinna becoming a Defender this Fall!  She is going to be a great addition to the Dordt community and our basketball program.  Excited to have another athlete from California joining us!” said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.

Corrina is the daughter of William and Anita de Jong of Escondido, California.  She plans to study Education at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).  
 
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
