Women's Track And Field Adds Bandstra

(Thursday, March 7; Sioux Center, Iowa) Mary Kate Bandstra, a senior at Pella Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and field program.

Bandstra has persona bests of 26.38 in the 200 meters and is a nine-time state meet qualifier and has earned five medals at the state meet.  She was on a 4x200 team that finished third at the state meet. 

"We are so happy that Mary Kate chose Dordt College to further her education and participate in track and field.  Mary Kate will bring positive energy to our sprints.  She has been a very successful high school sprinter, with numerous state meet appearances.  She has been a leader on her team and at her school, and we are looking forward to seeing how she develops those skills in college," said Dordt track and field coach Craig Heynen.

Mary Kate is the daughter of Ryan and Anne Bandstra of Pella, Iowa.  She plans to study Business at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).  
 
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
