(Friday, March 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) Demetri Fried-Ochoa, a senior at Idaho Falls High School (Idaho), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.
Fried-Ochoa was twice named second-team all-conference and was named first-team all-area. He led Idaho Falls with 15 assists during his junior and senior seasons combined and recorded four goals as a senior. Fried-Ochoa helped his team to a consolation championship at the Idaho High School State Tournament and played midfielder.
"Demetri brings positive energy, character and a high work rate. We are excited to see how he develops in his time at Dordt. He is a bright kid who is passionate about Dordt. Demetri will be a great fit for our school and program," said men's soccer coach Ryan Gresse.
Demetri is the son of Allen and Sylvia Fried. He plans to study Digital Media Production at Dordt.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
