Baseball Adds Torres

(Thursday, March 28; Sioux Center, Iowa) Shay Torres, a senior at El Camino High School (California), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender baseball program.

Torres is currently batting .392 with 11 hits, three doubles and a homerun with seven runs batted in.  He's the team captain for El Camino and has been named a scholar-athlete each season since his freshman year.  He's played outfield at El Camino.

“Shay comes from a high level of baseball on the high school and club levels.  He is a complete baseball player that will have an impact on our team immediately,“ said Dordt baseball coach Jeff Schouten. 

Shay is the son of Tiffany and Ceaser Torres of Oceanside, California.  He plans to study Accounting at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).  
 
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
