Dordt College senior Sarah Dykstra will present her senior art exhibition, featuring a collection of her paintings and graphic artwork. The display will be open to the public in the Campus Center Art Gallery April 20 - 26, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. There will also be a reception on Saturday, April 20, from 7 to 8 p.m., with an artist talk at 7:15 p.m.
The artwork covers a range of projects Dykstra completed while at Dordt. “My artwork captures moments in time to create memories to look back on,” Dykstra says. “Each piece is a specific moment in my life that I want to treasure and remember.”
The paintings feature different places and events that are special to Dykstra. “My first date with my fiancé was to the Omaha Zoo,” she says. "The series of animals captures some of that memory, but also some of the other fun things we did later on.”
She has painted silhouettes, designed posters, and created other small, hand-held graphics for other events. She is excited to share her God-given talents with the community.
The community is welcome to visit the free exhibit.
