Kampman To Run For Defenders

(Thursday, April 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Jessica Kampman, a student at Abbotsford Christian Secondary School (British Columbia), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Kampman placed 11th at the BC High School Cross country Provincials in 2018 and placed 14th and sixth at the same event in 2017 and 2016 respectively.  In track and field she was the runner-up finisher at provincials in 2018 and 2017 and was fourth in the pole vault.  She also was part of a 4x400 relay team that placed fifth and she also placed fifth in the 2018 Provincial heptathlon. Kampman has personal bests of 24:34 on a 6,200 meter cross country course, 18:05 on a 5,300 meter course and 14:45 on a 4,200 meter course.  Her best time in a 1,500 meter steeplechase race is 5:14.45.

"I am excited to have Jessica join our programs.  She is a talented distance runner who can compete at the conference and national level and will have an impact on our teams immediately.  She is humble, competitive, hardworking, and will be a great teammate.  I am excited to work with her over the next four years," said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track coach Nate Wolf.

Jessica is the daughter of Mark and Sheri Kampman of Abbotsford, British Columbia.  She plans to study Education at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
