Dordt College has been named the top-ranked Iowa college on this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings. Dordt is again among the top 10 “Best in the Midwest” colleges. This is the 26th time that Dordt has been ranked on the U.S. News & World Report survey.
“We’re thankful and humbled to be recognized by the U.S. News & World Report for the quality of our education,” says Dordt College President Erik Hoekstra. “Our outstanding faculty and dedicated staff develop meaningful relationships with our students and invest deeply in their education, discipleship, and growth.”
The investment by faculty and staff also explains why Dordt has been named, for the fifth time, an “A-plus School for B Students.” This list recognizes colleges where every student can thrive academically. At Dordt, mentorship and tutoring opportunities are available free to any student looking for extra help.
Dordt College is the only Iowa college to make U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Engineering Program” list, which ranks engineering schools whose highest degree is a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Engineering has been a growing program at Dordt for more than 30 years. Having graduated more than 500 students and having earned a stellar pass rate of approximately 95 percent on the Fundamentals of Engineering test, the engineering program has consistently been one of the five largest programs of study at Dordt.
Hoekstra says that while these rankings are a useful tool, Dordt strives to do more than just train students in academic fields. “While academic excellence is a primary reason for Dordt’s existence, our highest purpose is to shape students into effective kingdom citizens, prepared to live out their calling and to work effectively toward Christ-centered renewal in all areas of life.”
U.S. News & World Report is one of the longest‑running college ranking publications. The list serves as a starting point for students researching colleges, because it provides a data‑driven look at indicators such as freshman retention, graduation rates, and the strength of the faculty. Dordt College encourages students who want to get a true feel for the campus experience to go beyond the numbers and schedule a campus visit; see www.dordt.edu for more information.
