(Wednesday, October 4; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women’s volleyball team is no. 7 in the third regular season NAIA Volleyball Coaches Top-25 Poll released earlier this week.
The Defenders are 19-3 overall and 7-1 in GPAC play after a win over Dakota Wesleyan on Tuesday night this week. The Defenders are 5-0 since the previous poll was released. The Defenders had 475 points in the polling conducted by 21 coaches representing each of the conferences and Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
The Defenders are scheduled to face no. 1 Viterbo in Lacrosse, Wisconsin on Thursday, October 5 and will host no. 3 Northwestern on Wednesday, October 11. Dordt is also scheduled to face no. 23 Doane on Saturday, October 14.
"After a strong week of play, we are pleased to remain in the top 10. With six teams still ranked in our conference, the GPAC is an incredible position to strengthen each other with high level competition each night. The weeks ahead will be defining for our own conference goals. We are so grateful to God for the health we've experienced this season, and we are mindful of how frail human lives are, given the tragic current events these days,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.
Six GPAC members are in the top-25 this week. Dordt, Northwestern (no. 3), Hastings (no. 4), Midland (no. 9), Morningside (no. 21) and Doane (no. 23) comprise the half dozen GPAC members getting votes.
The fourth in-season poll of the 2017 season will be released on October 17.
